In the era before Liverpool achieved one of the most impressive revivals in European football, our club had one of the most spectacular tridents in the Premier League that promised to take us back to glory, but never managed to meet the expectations of the fans.
In those years, Anfield was thirsty for triumphs, titles and satisfaction, as the team had not won an important trophy for many years, but the presence of that great trident in attack revived the hopes of the fans, as it was a combination of young players of great talent that promised to be the new stars of world football.
We are talking about Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho, who conquered the hearts of Anfield thanks to their great goals. However, the joy did not last long, as both Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling decided to leave the club due to the lack of titles, leaving Coutinho alone at Anfield. However, the Brazilian midfielder seemed to have taken up the challenge of lifting Liverpool and continued to give great performances that endeared him to the fans and also to Jürgen Klopp who had not long become the manager.
Klopp was delighted with Coutinho's performance and considered him the fundamental piece for the team's project, however the Brazilian surprised everyone with a transfer request and although the German tactician asked him not to leave, Coutinho left Liverpool to join FC Barcelona who had already won everything in Europe, but to his bad luck things did not turn out as he expected.
Philippe Coutinho left Anfield as Liverpool's best player, however the Reds proved that they are bigger than any player and the same season he left, we won the Champions League. He, on the other hand, was never able to consolidate his position at Barcelona and now plays for Aston Villa, a team that apparently would be looking for a way out this summer.
