Klopp has to make tough decisions in his group

Liverpool stayed alive in their bid to retain their FA Cup title and earned an immediate chance to avenge one of their most humiliating defeats in the English Premier League. The Reds won 1-0 away to Wolverhampton in a third round play-off on Tuesday. It set up a last-16 tie at home to Brighton, who thrashed them 3-0 on Saturday.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp called the defeat the worst in his 22-year managerial career. Harvey Elliott scored the difference against Wolves after 13 minutes, advancing from his own half before unloading a 30-yard shot that beat Portuguese goalkeeper Jose Sa and nestled in the centre of the net.

Klopp's reaction to Harvey Elliot's wonder goal, message to one of Liverpool's stars

For love of the Reds, Wolverhampton star wants to play for Liverpool after the FA Cup

Klopp wanted his side to "get back to basics" after a humiliating defeat three days ago at Brighton. He fielded a more modest line-up, which dispensed with stars such as Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker and Andrew Robertson. Liverpool were virtually untroubled at Molineux. Wolves became the ninth Premiership side eliminated in this year's FA Cup. "It felt like it had been a whole era since we had won or felt good," Klopp said. "We had to fight hard at the end of a game we controlled for long periods. It's a good thing, just the reaction we wanted to see."

Elliot was the star

In this match, the best player was Harvey Elliot thanks to his wonder goal. However, the German coach will have to make a tough decision to give Elliot more playing time. It has been reported by several local reporters that he would have to decide between Mohamed Salah and also the newcomer Cody Gakpo. This decision is being considered by the Liverpool board.
