Anthony Taylor is one of the referees with more experience and a name in England and Europe. Is often selected by UEFA and FIFA to command continental finals and very important games during the official season. Is not surprising that begins with the most important match in the Premier League opening round.
In this case, Taylor will be the main referee in the Premier League opening match between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. Moreover, this is the second consecutive time that he will manage: in the 2022/2023 season, he managed a 0-0 at Chelsea’s stadium which he showed five yellow cards, one for the Blues and four for the Reds.
Since 2013 as FIFA's official referee, Anthony started in Premier League in 2010. Born in Wythenshawe, he has led 344 league games. Besides, the European commanded matches in UEFA Nations League A and B, UEFA Champions League’s qualifiers, World Club Cup, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Champions League. In this number of games, he showed 1192 yellow cards, 32 red cards, and took 97 penalties.
His assistants for Sunday will be Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn as line judges; David Coote as the fourth one; and Darren England will be in the VAR, joined by Simon Bennet like AVAR. Reds supporters expect that the mentioned referee has a very well and goes unnoticed during all 90 minutes because the real characters are the football players.
Since the 2010/2011 season, Anthony Taylor led nine Reds defeats, 32 victories, and 14 draws. In resume, the British bald referee commanded Liverpool 55 times in more than a decade. Against Chelsea, was five times in 13 years with three draws and two defeats, of which three were at Stamford Bridge and the others were at Anfield.
