Although his time at Anfield did not end in the best possible way, there is no doubt that Philippe Coutinho has been one of the most talented players to have played for Liverpool, as he showed from a very young age that he had the qualities to become a superstar, not only for the Reds but for the world.
Philippe Coutinho dazzled everyone thanks to his great performances with Liverpool, as it was precisely in the Merseyside team where he showed what he was capable of and where he displayed his best level. The fans at Anfield were excited, as the Brazilian had everything to become one of the best players in the world and many believe that he could even have competed head to head against Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, however the story of Coutinho turned out to be very different.
Coutinho failed to reciprocate the affection of the fans decided to betray Liverpool in 2018 when he asked to be transferred to FC Barcelona, where he believed he would win the trophies that at Anfield he had been unable to achieve. But fate is cruel, or at least it was with Coutinho, as the same season he left, Liverpool emerged Champions League winners.
That is why when fans think of Philippe Coutinho there are mixed feelings, because on the one hand there is sadness for the player who wasted his potential and on the other hand karma gave Coutinho what he deserved, as he did not want to be patient and ended up being a player who came to be worth 150 million euros and is now only worth 10 million. However, his former manager at Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers has a different opinion and a much happier memory about the Brazilian midfielder.
In recent statements for the Liverpool Echo portal, Brendan Rodgers recalled his time as Liverpool manager and said that during his time at Anfield he managed the three most talented young players he has ever seen: Raheem Sterling, Joe Allen and Philippe Coutinho. Regarding the Brazilian, Rodgers said that "he was a standout at 19. A small-ish, young player in stature but massive on the pitch with his quality."
