After the Colombian's great performance in the FA Cup against Arsenal, one of Liverpool's main men praised him and praised his work in the last few games. In recent months, Luis Fernando Diaz has received a lot of criticism in England for his level of play. During and after the kidnapping of his father, the youngster had a couple of poor games that earned him a wave of questioning, especially from a Liverpool legend. He is Jamie Carragher, former footballer and now star of the UK's most watched sports talk show.
Over the past few months, Carragher has shown no mercy to Luis Diaz. The Colombian went through a very tough time because of the kidnapping of his father and yet he decided to stay in England to do his duty at Liverpool. Of course, that extra-sporting problem influenced his level and he had a noticeable downturn in several Premier League and UEFA Europa League games. Undoubtedly, Luis Díaz was Liverpool's star player in the victory over Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup. The Colombian sealed the 0-2 win for his team and once again showed all the talent and the unbalanced play that brought him to Jürgen Klopp's side. Jamie Carragher saw that and had no alternative but to cut his critics short and recognise the great work of the Colombian.
Beyond the qualification and the victory over Arsenal, the Liverpool legend acknowledged that the most important thing about the game had to do with Luis Diaz. Little by little, he is regaining his best form and resuming his leading role in the Reds' attack. The Colombian is set to become the new star at Anfield after the departure of Sadio Mané, Jordan Henderson and a couple of other key players who decided to continue their careers elsewhere.
Next challenge for Diaz and Liverpool... Carabao Cup semi-finals! After qualifying for the next round of the FA Cup, Luis Diaz and Co. are now looking ahead to England's other cup, the Carabao Cup. The Colombian and Liverpool are already installed in the semi-final of this competition and in this instance they will face Fulham. The first match is at Anfield on 10 January. Then comes the match against Bournemouth for the 21st date of the Premier League (January 21).
