A Special Presentation in Salzburg
Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp was introduced on Tuesday as the new Global Director of Football at Red Bull. In his first press conference since leaving the English club in June, Klopp expressed excitement about his new role and addressed questions about his former team, particularly Mohamed Salah.
Klopp’s Wish Regarding Salah
When asked by an Egyptian journalist about Salah’s future, Klopp voiced hope that the forward will renew his contract with Liverpool. "I hope he stays. He’s a fantastic player and man, an exceptional athlete. He’s the best ambassador your country could have," Klopp stated. He further reiterated his desire to see Salah continue at Anfield: "I hope he stays at Liverpool."
A Key Role in Red Bull’s Football Universe
Since January 1, Klopp has been overseeing the network of football clubs under the Red Bull banner, which includes teams like RB Leipzig in Germany, New York Red Bulls in the MLS, and Paris FC in France. "It’s an ambitious project, and I’m thrilled to be part of it," said the 57-year-old German coach.
Liverpool, Always Close to His Heart
Although now linked to Red Bull, Klopp remains fond of Liverpool, where he spent seven seasons and won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020. "It’s great to see them doing so well. I wish them all the best, and I watch every game I can. It’s top-level football," he proudly commented.
Ruling Out a Return to Coaching for Now
Despite his new role, Klopp firmly ruled out the possibility of managing a Red Bull team in the near future: "I will not be a coach for a Red Bull team—that’s a clear commitment." However, he did leave the door open for a potential return to coaching someday, without offering further details.
Klopp thus begins a new chapter in his career, this time from a more strategic position, while maintaining his deep passion for the game.
