It speaks volumes about the Liverpool squad that Jürgen Klopp has constructed at Anfield over the past few years that even with 10 players missing, the Reds were able to win so emphatically against an in-form Bournemouth side that looked, heading into the fixture, to be a team that could cause a lot more problems.

Mohamed Salah, injured at AFCON, was not present, but Diogo Jota and Darwin Núñez stepped up. Cody Gakpo was excellent off the bench as well. Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley and Owen Beck shared the full-back duties with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas all out, but Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté were strong performers alongside them and guided them through.
In midfield, even with Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endō, Thiago Alcântara and Stefan Bajčetić all out, Liverpool more than coped. Curtis Jones offered a great deal of balance once more and the Reds will hope that his injury is not a bad one, while Alexis Mac Allister was sublime, putting in arguably his best performance since arriving from Brighton. But there was a glimpse of another midfield option that is emerging at Anfield as well. While Liverpool was three up at the time, Bobby Clark was entrusted to enter the field and see things out.
Given that the 18-year-old was thrown on at 0-0 against Arsenal in the FA Cup, with Liverpool scoring the opener just minutes later at the Emirates Stadium, it is fair to say that he has Klopp's trust regardless of the scoreline. Clark, one of the stand-out teenagers on Liverpool's books, can expect more chances in the coming weeks. Had he not been injured for much of the Europa League group stages, Liverpool fans would have seen a lot more of the silky midfielder, whose skillset is ideal for one of the number eight roles under Klopp. Clark would undoubtedly have got minutes in Europe had he been fit. Instead, his emergence was delayed.

Next weekend's FA Cup tie against Norwich City should offer a chance for more senior minutes, perhaps even from the start, while until the injury situation clears up in midfield, there could easily be a few more Premier League cameos. It would be no shock to see Clark appear from the sidelines in the second leg of the Carabao Cup midweek. Klopp clearly trusts him, and Clark is the latest in a long line of young talents who will be given a proper platform. Those like Harvey Elliott, who had made the step up previously having been brought in by Liverpool as teenage talents, almost certainly helped convince Clark on the move. Now, he is doing the same for the next generation.
