The Spanish midfielder played a few minutes in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal last Sunday at the Emirates Stadium. It was his first game since April after suffering a hip injury from which he has had several relapses.

"It doesn't look good. We had seen him several days training and he was fine, so we selected him and he played a few minutes," Klopp told a news conference on Friday. "Now he has a muscular problem, we don't know the extent of the injury yet, but it's not good. It's not good news for him and it's not good news for us.

More problems than solutions

Thiago's contract with Liverpool expires this June after four years with the Reds in which he has made 98 appearances. His involvement, however, has been resented due to injuries since last season, when he could only make 28 appearances in all competitions. According to journalist Neil Jones, Thiago suffered a serious hamstring injury and is likely to see out his last few minutes at Liverpool.
