Liverpool are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi in the January transfer window.

The Reds were heavily linked with the Spanish international during the summer transfer window but failed to secure a deal. However, with Jürgen Klopp’s successor, Arne Slot, keen on bolstering his midfield options, Liverpool are expected to return with an improved offer.

Zubimendi, 25, has established himself as one of La Liga’s most promising young talents and his performances have not gone unnoticed by some of Europe's biggest clubs. His ability to dictate the tempo of a game, coupled with his defensive qualities, make him an ideal fit for Liverpool’s midfield.

A source close to the negotiations has revealed that Liverpool are prepared to meet Real Sociedad’s valuation of the player. With the January transfer window fast approaching, it remains to be seen whether the Reds can finally secure the signature of their long-term target.
