Liverpool have completed the signing of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in a deal that is set to make him the most expensive goalkeeper in the world.
The highly-rated 24-year-old will join the Reds in May 2025 and will provide stiff competition for the number one spot currently held by Brazilian international Alisson Becker.
Mamardashvili has been one of the standout goalkeepers in La Liga since joining Valencia on loan from Liverpool in 2021. His impressive performances and consistent form have attracted interest from some of Europe's top clubs.
The transfer fee for Mamardashvili is believed to be a record-breaking sum for a goalkeeper, underlining the high regard in which the Georgian is held. His arrival at Anfield will undoubtedly spark debate over who will be Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper next season.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has expressed his delight at securing the signature of such a talented young goalkeeper. "Giorgi is a fantastic goalkeeper with immense potential," Slot said. "He has all the attributes to succeed at the highest level, and we are thrilled to have him join our squad. He will bring added competition to our goalkeeping department and will help us to achieve our objectives."
The arrival of Mamardashvili is a clear statement of intent from Liverpool, as they look to strengthen their squad and challenge for major honors in the coming seasons.

Mamardashvili himself has expressed his excitement at joining one of the biggest clubs in the world. "It's a dream come true to be joining Liverpool," he said. "I'm looking forward to working with the manager and my new teammates. I know that I have a lot to learn, but I am confident that I can make a positive contribution to the team."
