The Liverpool board, mainly led by Sporting Director Jorg Schmadtke, were responsible for the signing of Wataru Endo by the club, a transaction that would have been endorsed by Jürgen Klopp. The Reds' move for the 30-year-old Japanese defensive midfielder came as a surprise to everyone, but fans have welcomed Wataru with open arms, especially after seeing what the former Stuttgart captain is capable of.
It is hoped that Endo can help the team overcome the absences of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, who both left Anfield this summer to join the financially powerful Saudi Pro League, leaving a gaping hole in a team that has struggled during pre-season and at the start of the Premier League to find solidity in the lower midfield, where Wataru Endo is at his best.
Jürgen Klopp has already welcomed the 30-year-old Japanese, who will wear the number 3 shirt vacated by Fabinho. The German tactician welcomed Endo and told him that he will be very important for the team as we really need him. "I'm really happy. Experienced player, captain of Stuttgart, captain of Japan, speaks good English, nice fella, family man, machine on the pitch, good footballer on top of that, sensational attitude," Klopp said of Endo's signing.
Endo is a breath of fresh air after the Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo novels, as the signing of the Japanese player was closed in a matter of hours, since his intention to play for the biggest team in England was always clear, so when he learned of Liverpool's interest, negotiations were accelerated and finalized. Now, as a Reds player, these were Endo's first words.
Wataru Endo was excited to sign for England's biggest club, our Liverpool, and said he was looking forward to wearing the uniform in front of the Anfield fans.
