Virgil Van Dijk's spoke about Nuñez arrival, the piece of advice he gave him

Darwin Núñez was a key to Liverpool's victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield, the Uruguayan's first official match with the Premier League team. Virgil van Dijk, leader of Jurgen Klopp's team rejected the criticism towards the South American and also shared with him a piece of advice.

"He is important. It's difficult to play against him and I hope he can prove that for the rest of the season. We all help him in some way and make sure he is comfortable, calm and just work and don't focus on what the outside world has to say because everyone has to say something these days. So head down, work and be important for the club," said the Dutchman in dialogue with the press.

He added: "I don't speak Spanish, so I don't say much to him at the moment, but we have a lot of Spanish speakers in the team and I know for sure that they help him, and I don't see anything that bothers him at the moment. But we'll see, everybody has something to say because there are a lot of platforms to say it. Just enjoy your game, enjoy the group, enjoy the club, because we are very blessed to be able to play at Liverpool”.

On what's next for Liverpool, he concluded, "We can't look to the future. It's a boring answer, but we knew that, for example, two years ago we had a lot of injuries, that's also part of football. Fabinho shared Van Dijk's feelings about Nunez, adding, "We saw that he is improving since the first preseason game. He did very well for the team. We've had three weeks of training, so now he knows a little bit of the way we play. We're learning a little bit more the way he plays”.

"We know he's fast, he's strong and he's a true number nine. He'll be in the box, the ball seems to follow him, he'll always have a chance to score. So yes, I think it's very important for him to score in the first official game in a Liverpool shirt. It will be very important for us this season," he added.
