It was a very controversial game at Anfield this Saturday between Liverpool and Arsenal because of bad decisions by referee Chris Kavanagh. Apart from an offside goal that was awarded to Arsenal, a handball inside the box by the captain of the visiting team was not flagged and Bukayo Saka committed a hard foul on Tsimikas that ended up injuring him.
In the most important game of the season, the Reds welcomed the Londoners to Anfield looking for a win that would allow them to retake the Premier League lead, but just four minutes in, Brazilian defender Gabriel scored for the visitors and although he was offside, the goal was not disallowed.
Just a few minutes later Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard committed a very clear handball inside the box but the referee and the VAR did not even review it in a very clear affectation against Liverpool. Then in the 35th minute Saka fouled the Greek Tsimikas on the touchline in which the Liverpool player picked out his collarbone and also knocked Klopp down.
Beyond the final result, Kavanagh's refereeing was disastrous and all his bad decisions ended up hurting Liverpool, which is not the first time it has suffered this type of situation, remembering what happened against Tottenham and also against Newcastle in controversial actions that even led to the suspension of captain Virgil van Dijk.
