Luis Fernando Diaz has returned to work with Liverpool after his performances for Colombia in the South American qualifiers. The player, who performed well despite missing a penalty against Ecuador, was given an enthusiastic welcome by manager Jürgen Klopp. After participating in the double qualifying round of South American qualifiers, in the draws against Uruguay (Barranquilla) and Ecuador (Quito) Luis Diaz returned to training with Liverpool in England. The Colombian despite not having scored in the matches with the national team, showed an outstanding individual level.
Luis Díaz's return did not go unnoticed, as he was received by the renowned German coach Jürgen Klopp. In an emotional encounter, Klopp extended his hand and hugged the Colombian player, showing a big smile on his face. The meeting between Diaz and Klopp was captured in a video posted on Liverpool's social media. In the images, it can be seen how both greet each other effusively, reflecting a positive relationship between the player and his manager.
Luis Fernando Diaz has resumed training with Liverpool. His timely arrival will allow him to take part in preparatory sessions with Klopp's side, including the final training session before the all-important Merseyside derby against Everton. Luis Diaz could be in the starting XI for Liverpool's clash with Everton, scheduled for Saturday.
While that was the welcome for Luis Diaz, the big surprise at team training was the appearance of Cody Gakpo, who suffered a knee injury in the game against Tottenham on 30 September in the controversial defeat over the VAR fiasco. His recovery was expected to take several weeks but all indications are that he could be a substitute against Everton.
