Thiago Alcantara will be out for six weeks through injury after suffering a hamstring problem against Fulham. The Reds could only draw 2-2 at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon in a somewhat disappointing start to their Premier League campaign.
Liverpool also had to contend with Thiago, who suffered the latest injury of his frustrating Anfield career, as such problems continue at the club. The Spaniard's absence has been a cause for concern in recent days, and now a worrying update has been offered on social media.
Thiago will be out for six weeks, meaning he could miss up to nine games: "Thiago faces up to six weeks out with a hamstring injury," the club said.
Thiago makes Liverpool a different team when he plays, he delivers passes others miss and brings a world-class level of control to the midfield, but it is impossible for Klopp to rely on him as a key figure because of the number of injuries he suffers each year.
He has never started more than 26 league games in a season in his career, and at 31, that is unlikely to change now. Thiago cannot be considered an undisputed starter, which means a new midfielder has to come in between now and the end of the transfer window.
