Liverpool hosted always difficult Leeds United on Saturday, with Jesse Marsch's side claiming an agonising 2-1 win as Mohamed Salah scored for the home side, while Rodrigo Moreno and Crysencio Summerville scored for the visitors. In the fourth minute a mistake in Gomez's delivery to Alisson, with an over-powered pass, led to Leeds' opener from Rodrigo, who scored into an empty net.
But Leeds' joy was short-lived as just before the quarter-hour mark, Salah levelled the scores from Robertson's left-wing cross into the six-yard box. It looked like it might be a turning point in the game but nothing could be further from the truth. The visitors did not let up, and after 20 minutes Aaronson had the second goal when he crashed the ball against the crossbar from Kristensen's measured cross from the right flank.

Liverpool gradually began to tilt the field towards Meslier's goal and had a couple of chances to confirm the comeback before half-time, but Darwin Nunez thought too much of a one-on-one with the visitors' keeper and Firmino missed a Robertson cross that skimmed just wide of the post by millimetres. So ended a first half in which the Reds were dominated by Leeds for much of the first half.
The French goalkeeper Meslier had a great game, who avoided defeat on a number of occasions with several fine saves, such as a one-handed save from a curling shot from the left by Darwin Núñez and two low saves, first from a Salah shot in the box and then from Firmino's diving header. This allowed the game to go into the 89th minute with the match in the balance and Crysencio Summerville took advantage of a loose ball in the box to beat Alisson with a shot into the bottom right-hand corner and send the Reds into shock.
"It's just one of those things. I think we are not in the greatest run of form - I think a lot of players would say that about themselves and as a team in general. But we're still creating our chances. We created enough chances to go and win that game but in football you get punished for not taking your chances. We've been punished," said Trent Alexander Arnold.
