Darwin Nunez was not considered by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to start the game against RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena in Germany, where they face each other in a friendly game. Although he has received praise from team-mates and Klopp himself, the message is clear from the Reds boss not to start him in the friendly game in Germany this afternoon.

One of the reasons would be the recent criticism he has received from fans and critics, seeing his performance in the pre-season games against Manchester United, when they lost by 4 goals to 0, as well as in the win against Crystal Palace in Singapore.

Nunez cost 75 million euros

Nunez arrived from Benfica after he announced on 13 June 2022 that he had agreed to join Liverpool on a six-year contract for a €75m transfer fee plus €25m in variables. The following day the English club also confirmed his signing after he passed his medical and signed a long-term contract.

It seems that Nunez has not yet managed to adapt to the team, despite the short time, many expect great things from the striker, we will see if he gets more minutes from Klopp in this game and manages to score some goals, or if we will be disappointed again waiting for him to perform better when the official games start.
