Our Liverpool are still looking for more reinforcements about the end of the transfer window, and it seems that Jürgen Klopp's priorities are clear: we need a midfielder and a central defender. On the subject of central defender, there are at least three players who have been mentioned as possible candidates to arrive at Anfield, but as for the midfielder many more names have been sounded, although it seems that Liverpool could be very close to making an offer for one of the biggest targets Klopp has had for months.
When the transfer window began, and once Alexis Mac Allister's arrival to the team was finalized, it was said that the signing of the Argentine midfielder would be just the beginning of a deep rebuilding of the team's midfield and, in those days, there were two names of players that were projected to be the next two reinforcements of the team.
We are talking about Manu Koné and Khéphren Thuram, French midfielders considered great jewels of their country and for whom Jürgen Klopp would have shown great interest. However, the rumors about their respective possible signings were extinguished because in the case of Thuram there was talk that the price and economic pretensions of the player were too high, while Koné suffered a knee injury in the summer with the France U-21 team.
However, now our Liverpool could be close to resuming their interest in Koné, who has returned to training at Borussia Monchengladbach as his injury was not as serious as expected and it is expected that now, with less than a week to go until the end of the transfer window, the board is preparing a final move to try to sign a player that many see as a replacement for Jordan Henderson, as he is a versatile player capable of fulfilling different roles in midfield.
According to journalist Christan Falk, the Monchengladbach board is expecting an offer from Liverpool in the next few days to sign Manu Koné. In addition, he reports that due to the injury he suffered in the summer, the German side have reportedly reduced his price and could now accept an offer of around €35 million instead of the €50 million they were asking for a few months ago.
