He left the team in the summer with a view to reaching a better level

Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich's sporting director, showed full support for Sadio Mané, who made a good start to his first season at the club after leaving Liverpool, but has now gone four games without scoring. The Senegalese's drought has been compounded by the Bavarian giants, who have also failed to win in their last four Bundesliga games and are running from 13 points behind, four behind leaders Union Berlin.

The former Premier League striker scored three goals in as many games at the start of the campaign, but then fell out of sync with his team. Still, the Bosnian manager is confident of his recovery. "Sadio still needs a bit of time. He has to get used to the Bundesliga, but he will. I know what it's like to join a new team, in another city, another country with another football culture," the former Bayern and Juventus player told BILD.

"I joined Juventus at the age of 30. I had won the Champions League, the Bundesliga and the German Cup with Bayern, but even as an experienced and successful player, you need some time to get used to your new environment, to fully concentrate on football and perform," Salihamidzic added in his assessment.

Likewise, the Bavarian club's sporting director confessed that he has dialogue with Mané. "I talk to him regularly, but I also give him space. He has to organise himself so that he feels at home in Munich; he is doing that. Sadio is one of the best players in the world. He will bring a lot of good performances. We will have a lot of joy with him.

And when it came to his role on the pitch, Salihamidzic concluded: "Sadio plays for the team. His team-mates see that. Everyone knows that Sadio is an important member of the group. They will help him because, when he is on top form, he helps us to achieve our goals.
