Before rumours of Naby Keita's unhappiness surfaced, it was rumoured that Liverpool would be looking to the transfer market for a new midfielder. Klopp has not played down the injuries and absences, but neither has he been 100 per cent definite on whether another player will arrive in the squad during this transfer window.
"I know what's going to come up now, it's clear. We said we didn't need a midfielder because we have enough, and in fact we do. But the problem now is that we get punished for something that is not really our responsibility because things like that can happen," the German coach said after the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.
If Keita leaves, that will likely leave the German tactician in need of a replacement. For now what we know for sure is that the player is in negotiations for a new contract and has not been able to come to an agreement with the board, while his contract is due to expire in 2023.
There are many transfer rumours, some have linked Liverpool with Matheus Nunes, young Moises Caicedo, Real Madrid's Marco Asensio and one of the most talked about names is that of Jude Bellingham, who the Reds had planned to bring in for next year, but given the circumstances his signing is becoming more and more likely.
Given the conditions of both players, both Nunes and Bellingham would be the ideal players for the team led by the German manager, but the last word is up to Klopp and his team, in whom the board has trusted in recent years and has complied with the coach's requests.
