The 2022-2023 season ended in a disappointing way for Liverpool, as after being one of the best teams in Europe, they failed to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League. In view of this, Jürgen Klopp has prioritized rejuvenating the squad with the arrival of midfielders, but will have to compete with other Premier League teams to obtain the targeted players.
Liverpool has already taken the first step towards its reconstruction, as the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister could mark the beginning of other major additions that could shore up the team's midfield. In that sense, several names have emerged that Klopp and his coaching staff have had under their radar for a few months now.
One of those names is that of 22-year-old French midfielder Manu Koné, who has surprised the football world with his great performances for Borussia Mönchengladbach and has sparked the interest of several teams around the world, including Liverpool, who are looking to bring him to Anfield next season.
However, the latest reports claim that Liverpool is not the only team interested in signing Kone, as it seems that both Aston Villa and Wolverhampton would join the race to sign the French player. Despite this, the player's entourage would still prefer a move to Anfield, but the Reds are yet to make a formal offer for him.
Although it has been mentioned that Manu Koné is one of Jürgen Klopp's main targets ahead of the next transfer window, the German tactician has put a priority after the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister. We are talking about Képhren Thuram, a French midfielder who currently plays for Nice in Ligue 1. Once Thuram's arrival is finalized, Liverpool could start negotiations to sign Koné.
