Without the support of his family, Sadio Mané decided to run away from home for a trial without knowing that it would change his life. Or perhaps it was the certainty that his opportunities would actually change because of his abilities and talents that motivated him to go and try out for what makes him most happy: football. Sadio left Banbali, not with a promise of returning, but with the conviction of doing so to help his poverty-stricken community in Senegal.
Jürgen Klopp praised Sadio Mané after Bayern move: “One of Liverpool's greatest”
After shining with Liverpool, and now as the new signing for Bayern Munich, Sadio Mané will continue to remember where he came from and the poverty he endured. Instead of forgetting his roots, he decided to build schools, help with food and clothes, helping combat the deprivation he experienced as a child.
He does not forget his origin. Sadio Mané already has a Champions League, Premier League and African Cup of Nations titles to show for him but in his heart are not only his successes, but everything he had to go through to achieve his goals.
Although his family was against him becoming a footballer, Sadio never stopped chasing his dream, not only because he wanted to escape the poverty he suffered as a child, but also to help those around him who were suffering with him.
Sadio dreamed it and achieved it, he became one of the heroes he saw on TV: ”I would see boys playing and joined their games. When I grew up, I would go to the pitch. Especially when the national team was playing. I wanted to see my heroes and imagined myself as them. When I was young, all I thought about was playing in the Premier League, which I watched on TV. That was my big dream.”
Jürgen Klopp spoke about Liverpool's legacy, staying at the top, Salah’s renewal and more
