The game against Newcastle at St. James Park in which our Liverpool got one of the most exciting wins in recent memory in a long time, there were several stories worth telling. Of course the magnificent and heroic performance of Darwin Nunez, the tremendous performance of Alisson and the sending off of Virgil van Dijk. However, another big story from this match was the Premier League debut of Jarell Quansah.

The young 20-year-old English defender was called up by Jürgen Klopp during the pre-season and was active with the first team, leaving very good sensations especially in the tour of Singapore. However, during the summer there were rumors that he could go out on loan to another team, but finally Klopp decided to keep him at Anfield and it has been a good decision.

The game against Newcastle presented a very big adversity for our Liverpool, because before the 30th minute our captain Virgil van Dijk was sent off and that caused Joe Gomez to enter the game, leaving Quansah as the only defender available on the substitutes' bench and, in the 77th minute, Jüregn Klopp gave him the opportunity to make his debut in the best league in the world and with the biggest team in the league.

Quansah's performance ended up being very good and crucial for Liverpool to get the victory and even surprised Trent Alexander-Arnold who praised him after the match. "Jarell Quansah, absolutely incredible in his first game for us in a difficult situation" said the vice-captain, although he was not the only one who spoke about Quansah's debut.

Klopp's words about Quansah

Jürgen Klopp said after the game that Jarell Quansah is truly a great talent at the club and explained how important he was in the win over the Magpies. "we had Quansah, he is great, he is a real talent (...) Jarell played two really good passes, which were super important passes, I would say. Besides the result there were obviously a few nice stories and bringing Quansah on is one of them," he said.
