Newcastle have just given Liverpool some big news

Liverpool continues to look for more reinforcements in the transfer market, as Jürgen Klopp's top priority is to sign new young midfielders who can contribute to the team's long-term project, and it seems that Newcastle have given the Reds the best news in the last few hours.

Liverpool's board have already made their first signing for next season official, with the transfer of Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool from Brighton having been finalized a few days ago. Mac Allister was Klopp's top priority and it has been said that his arrival at Anfield is just the first of several that will take place this summer.

In that sense, Liverpool already have a long list of candidates that are in the German tactician's sights and that could interest the board to try to finalize his arrival. Of the players who have been tipped to become new Reds players, Képhren Thuram and Manu Koné are perhaps Klopp's two biggest favorites, as they are two young players considered to be the two great jewels of French football.

However, they are not the only names on Klopp's list. In recent days, 26-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella has attracted the interest of Liverpool, following his participation in the Champions League final. His price currently hovers around 75 million euros and everything seemed to indicate that Newcastle United would also be interested in him, so Liverpool would have to compete with them to try to sign him.

Newcastle leave the way open

It had been reported that Newcastle had already been in contact with Inter Milan to sign Barella, however now the Magpies' board have reportedly taken a different path. According to reports, Newcastle have already reached an agreement with AC Milan to sign midfielder Sandro Tonali, so they are no longer interested in Barella, leaving the way open for Liverpool.
