With Liverpool having all but forgotten about that Champions League ticket and now trying to secure their place in the Europa League, Jürgen Klopp's side have now not only begun to manage what will be their final game of the season against Southampton, but the Merseyside outfit are also more than ready to begin a summer transfer window that promises to bring multiple changes in a number of positions.
Although the intention to sign more than one player in midfield is clear for the Reds, at the moment they have only agreed the transfer of Alexis Mac Allister, Brighton's star player who has gone from strength to strength both in the Premier League and in the Argentina national team, earning through his great performances with the Seagulls and the Albiceleste the interest of Jürgen Klopp who is looking for the ideal replacement for Jordan Henderson who seems to fulfil very different roles to the ones he was used to until this season.
With the Reds manager seeing that Mac Allister fits the profile he is looking for at the moment, it is not tedious for Klopp to have to decide what to do with his players who are not up to the level of the reinforcements, as it is believed that the arrival of the Argentine will mean that not only will Henderson lose the starting midfield role, but he will also have to modify his game to one that is more suited to the needs of the group, having to sacrifice a thousand and one things in order to have some activity in the games of the following season.
Both in terms of age and playing condition, Mac Allister currently looks like a much more complete player than Henderson is today, leading Klopp to take into consideration a man who can perform perfectly in more physically demanding jobs, leaving Henderson as that experienced player who can act as a leader in adverse situations, of course, all this from a place more focused on the defensive side of the game.
