Luis Suarez has been tempted by the MLS before his arrival at Nacional. LAFC would have put an offer in front of him that the charrúa striker would have declined to spend the months leading up to the Qatar 2022 World Cup playing in Uruguay. The South American has been one of the best players to have ever played for Liverpool and his return to the club was a source of excitement at Anfield.

But Suarez has already clarified what was an open cry, after the World Cup he will look for a new destination. In an interview with Marca newspaper, the former Barcelona striker said that his career in Europe is over: "I've already made my European career and I was proud to leave there. I had many options, many, many, before coming to Nacional, but the sense of coming to my country was also that: Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barça, Atlético... What better career than that in Europe".

When asked about the possibility of coming to MLS Suarez said: "We don't know yet, but it's one of the possibilities we see very close; but I'm enjoying this moment at Nacional, I'm not thinking about the future yet," were the Uruguayan's words, disappointing Liverpool fans who had hoped for his return.

The possibility that looked closest was a move to LA Galaxy, with Chicharito Hernandez's third year of his contract coming to an end. But a number of conditions have been met that triggered an automatic renewal clause in the Mexican striker's contract with the LA franchise and that would be an obstacle to Suarez's arrival.

The rumours that put the Uruguayan striker in the most winning team in the history of the North American League counted on the salary mass, the quota of franchise player and the position of centre forward that would free the exit of Hernandez. Now the conditions have changed but there are many months ahead to negotiate.
