Our Liverpool is about to conclude its preseason, as the start of the Premier League is just around the corner, with the first game of the 2023-2024 campaign to be played in less than two weeks against Chelsea, in which we will be visitors at Stamford Bridge.
In total, our Liverpool will have five friendly matches before the start of the Premier League on August 13. Five opportunities for Jürgen Klopp to decide who will make up the squad and five opportunities to see the players who will start at least in that first game against Chelsea, although it should be noted that the board is aiming to sign a couple more players before the end of the summer transfer window.
The first match of the preseason was against Karlsruher, which ended in a 4-2 victory for the Reds. Afterwards, we faced Greüther Furth, a match that ended in a 4-4 draw. The third game was against Leicester City, which has been so far the best game of Klopp's team as it ended with a resounding 4-0 victory and finally, the fourth game was the first defeat of the preseason and it was against FC Bayern by 3-4.
In that sense, it is important to note that in each of the four games of the preseason, the team has managed to score three or more goals, which exemplifies how complete our Liverpool attack is, however the defeat against Bayern in which one of our signings, Alexis Mac Allister, went out injured, reaffirms the need to continue strengthening the midfield, something that the Anfield management is trying to do these days.
There is only one more game to go until the end of Liverpool's preseason and it will be against SV Darmstadt 98, a Bundesliga team. This will be the last chance for many young players to earn a place in the first team, as well as for some first team players to earn a place in the starting lineup.
