German boss spices up Premiership with top-flight target

Liverpool have not started the season in the manner expected and their early-season form justifies Jürgen Klopp's desire to give the club a facelift in 2023. It is true that in January it is unlikely that the Reds will be able to make any world-class moves, but the German coach's priorities for next summer are already becoming clear, with Mason Mount being the latest name to be added to the list.

It is hard to believe that Chelsea will allow the England international to leave given the importance of the project and the exponential growth that is predicted, but it is the player himself who is increasingly seriously considering a move away. Graham Potter's arrival on the bench at Stamford Bridge does not appear to have been entirely positive news for Mount, whose stock has dropped significantly since Tuchel left the club, and Klopp's willingness to make room for him could further increase those doubts, as The Guardian has reported.

To make matters worse, the Guardian has revealed that Mount has another reason to make a move to the club next summer: his current contract means that the Chelsea academy graduate is one of the lowest paid players in the squad. It is true that the board have been working for several months on renewing the player's contract to increase his annual salary and dispel those doubts about his possible departure, but Liverpool's interest is growing and Klopp also has a number of advantages to convince the 23-year-old.

Firstly, that the Reds' project looks more exciting despite the fact that the team is struggling in the Premier League this season. On the other hand, Mount knows that he would become a standard bearer for the team alongside other players such as Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, who would be delighted to be able to count on an ally of the British player's stature. And, ultimately, that the playmaker would see his wages rise so dramatically as to bury any thoughts of Chelsea closing in on his renewal.

Klopp wants Mount

It is true that Boehly, the London club's chairman, will not wait until next summer to put much more attractive conditions on the table to try to secure Mount's continuity, but Klopp's arrival on the scene opens a way for the player that could trigger one of the bombshells of 2023, a bombshell that will not be given for less than 75 million.
