Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is unhappy with his situation at the club and could seek a move away this summer. The player is said to be unhappy with talks over a new contract as his current deal expires in a year's time.
Reports state that despite a number of injuries to the squad, including Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita's exit is still possible. The Guinean joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in 2020 for £54m and met with a difficult start at Anfield.
Keita played 40 games last season, scoring four goals and contributing three assists. He currently has a lot of competition in midfield under Jurgen Klopp, with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and James Milner.
Klopp is reportedly a big admirer of Keita, despite contract talks remaining undefined. "Naby, I would say, is one of the best midfielders I have ever seen," the German manager said, but Liverpool cannot afford to lose another midfielder, especially on a permanent basis, due to their current injury crisis.
Keita was left out of the squad for the 2-2 draw against Fulham and did not come off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday. The 27-year-old also played just five minutes in the Community Shield against Manchester City.
The international was in talks to extend his contract at Anfield, although talks with the Reds have stalled. Injuries to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Thiago will not affect the situation, and Keita's departure remains a possibility.
