Jürgen Klopp will insist on what has been one of his greatest desires this summer

Since the end of the 2022-2023 season, Jürgen Klopp seems to have had it clear, as the German manager considered that a reconstruction of the squad was necessary to return to the top of the Premier League, and to achieve this he asked the board to make a major effort to get different reinforcements, of which it was mentioned that the priority would be midfielders and a defender.

True to his style, Klopp already had in mind the players he would like to sign as soon as the summer transfer window began and he has done so. Alexis Mac Allister, who his number one priority, was the first reinforcement of the team after paying 42 million euros to Brighton, a team with which he had a fantastic season. In addition, the 24-year-old midfielder was crowned World Cup winner with Argentina in Qatar 2022.

His second signing was made official just a few days ago when the Anfield board shelled out €70 million to pay the termination clause of Dominik Szoboszlai, who left RB Leipzig to join Anfield. Szoboszlai had been on Klopp's radar for a few months and now and is part of the squad. But Klopp would not be satisfied with that and would now have the arrival of a defender as a priority.

In that sense, it has been reported that Jürgen Klopp has the firm intention of signing Levi Colwill, a 20-year-old English defender who he considers could be the perfect replacement for Virgil van Dijk in the future and who has been a Reds fan since he was a child. However, the two occasions on which Liverpool would have asked Chelsea about him, the response would have been that Colwill is non-transferable, although it seems that will not stop Klopp.

Klopp's new strategy to sign Colwill

According to several reports, the only way Chelsea would consider selling Levi Colwill is if the player himself asks to leave the club. That is why, according to journalist Steve Kay, there have already been talks between Liverpool and the player's representatives, as Klopp's intention would be to directly convince Levi that he would have a better future at Anfield.
