Levi Colwill is Klopp's top target to bolster Liverpool's defense

Liverpool continues its search for reinforcements for next season, and it seems that Jürgen Klopp already has well defined the players he wants to strengthen the team in this summer transfer market, since so far he has only been able to finalize the arrival of two players, and although they have been good signings, the German tactician wants more.

Various reports claim that Klopp's priority is to sign at least two more players, a midfielder and a defender. As for the midfielder, Klopp would have in mind to sign the young Belgian gem, Romeo Lavia, who currently plays for Southampton. The Anfield board have reportedly already contacted the Saints in order to negotiate for Lavia and it seems to be a matter of time before he arrives at the club.

However, the issue of defense looks more complicated, as Jürgen Klopp's top priority is to sign Chelsea central defender Levi Colwill. Liverpool have already made two approaches to the Blues' board to inquire about Colwill, but on both occasions the response has been the same: Colwill is not for sale.

Everything seems to indicate that the new Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, wants to have Levi Colwill for next season and even offered him a contract extension to ensure his permanence at Stamford Bridge, however the player has not signed the new contract because the London club does not guarantee him the playing time that he could have at Anfield.

Last hope for Levi Colwill to arrive at Anfield

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea's position regarding Levi Colwill remains the same and is not to sell him at any cost. However, Romano mentioned to the Born n' Red portal that the only way Chelsea would consider selling Levi is if the player himself asked to be transferred.
