The centre-back is one of Bayer Leverkusen's key players and continues to amaze the whole of Europe with his excellent start to the season. We see it every season. When a team has a great season, its best players are clearly and inevitably revalued. And little by little they start to fill the agendas of other top teams, attracted by the excellent performances they offer. This will inevitably happen to Bayer Leverkusen, who are enjoying an excellent season under Xabi Alonso this season.

So it is almost daily that we see the stars of this club being sought after by the best teams in Europe. Now we are talking, or rather the Bild report does, about Piero Hincapie. The 21 year old defender has one assist in 14 appearances for the German side this season, and is a solid and sober centre-back who has brought great solidity to the Teutonic defence.

The aforementioned media recalls Liverpool's interest in signing him, but in addition to that they have also mentioned that other European giants are following in his footsteps. Newcastle United, AS Roma and AC Milan are the teams looking to sign the defender. Manuel Sierra, Hincapié's agent, has confirmed the Merseyside outfit's temptation. "Liverpool were interested in him, but they wanted to invest in the midfield. For January, they are already talking to them and other teams, but it won't cost less than €50m," he said in an interview with Futbol Sin Casette.

50 million defence

A sum of money that, for sure, will not be exactly affordable for this Premier League titan. However, it is an amount that is in line with the current market parameters for a player of his characteristics. In short, we will have to wait and see what Liverpool's intentions are for Hincapié.
