The summer transfer window was Liverpool's first since Michael Edwards stepped down as manager and was replaced by Julian Ward, with the new management having very little luck as several of the players they wanted failed to make it to the Reds, leaving them with Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay, Darwin Núnez and Arthur Melo who arrived from Juventus on a season-long loan deal for 2022-2023.
In addition to Liverpool's current football crisis, injuries at the start of the season left many Liverpool fans somewhat disgruntled as no further moves were made to patch up a team that had lost a lot with the departure of Sadio Mané, Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino and Neco Williams, with Klopp playing with what he had already signed but not with very good results.

Former Liverpool star disliked Premier League suspension
According to reports in Spain by one of the leading newspapers, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is said to have had no head to think of another attacking player other than Benfica's then top scorer Darwin Núñez, rejecting options not only of a higher level and experience, but also more affordable, denying agent Pini Zahavi the offers of Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Robert Lewandowski.
Suggesting that South Korea international Son and Poland international Lewandowski were more viable than affordable items is a truism, as Núnez's value (£67.5m) is on a par with that of the Tottenham star, while the former Bayern striker was close to the figures of around £40.5m, the price for which Barcelona paid.
From the bowels of the team at Anfield it has been said that the signing of Núnez was the worst mistake Klopp has made since he has been in charge of Liverpool. The Uruguayan, due to his high cost, was expected from the outset to be the natural replacement for Sadio Mané and will take charge alongside Mohamed Salah to lead the team in the right direction, however both the Uruguayan and the Egyptian are not performing as expected, making Darwin a failure of reinforcement for the time being.
