After seven Premier League games and two more in the UEFA Champions League, manager Jurgen Klopp has had enough time to accurately identify each and every one of the flaws in the current Liverpool squad, with the lack of pace and adaptation to the English competition being two of the biggest limitations that his reinforcements have at the moment, which is why more experienced players were seen in the starting line-up in the Reds' draw against Brighton at the weekend.

One of the players who is going through this bad moment is the Uruguayan striker, Darwin Núñez, who after having a terrible start with the Reds, made the trip with his national team during this FIFA date to have a moment of catharsis when he found the net again in the game against Canada, but even with that, Jurgen Klopp did not show enough confidence in him to use him as one of the starters this weekend.

Former Liverpool player spotted the decline of an Anfield star

While some talk of a possible rest for the South American striker after that long trip with his national team, others argue that this is more a matter of confidence with the German coach, being this the case of former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan, who sees in the entry of Nunez in the last minutes those possible doubts of Klopp on this young man who carries on his back part of the responsibility of being the new substitute for Sadio Mané. "It says a lot that Nunez didn't come on until the last minute. If Klopp had trusted him and believed he could score the winning goal, he would have brought him in earlier."

The same former striker also pointed out to Football Insider that Nunez is in the midst of an adaptation process to the English league, seeing in the rescheduled matches and in that long wait for an official game that delay that today has him submerged in the bench and far from the confidence of Jurgen Klopp, coach that possibly must adapt a specific training to achieve that task soon.  "Nunez is still finding his way in English football and that red card and suspension really set him back," he said.

Darwin Nunez lost Klopp's confidence

Nunez has started just two games for Liverpool since his arrival, among seven appearances in all competitions. With just 240 minutes of action he has managed two goals and an assist, though none since the opening day of the Premier League season on Aug. 6 when they played out a 2-2 draw with Fulham.
