This summer has been marked by the Saudi Pro League's emergence into the European transfer market, as the economically powerful Middle Eastern league has shown it has the spending power to sign world-class players, which has interfered with the plans of big European clubs.

Our Liverpool have not been exempt from suffering the havoc being wreaked by the Saudi Arabian league, as this summer Jürgen Klopp lost two players who were pivotal to his scheme ahead of the 2023-2024 season, as Fabinho and Jordan Henderson decided to leave Anfield to go and earn millions in the exotic league.

Jordan Henderson's departure was one of the most painful that our Liverpool has had in recent years, as Hendo was not only our captain but also consolidated himself as a legend of the team by leading the club in its most recent golden era in which every possible title was won at least once, ending a 30-year drought without winning the Premier League.

Now, the Saudi Pro League is still on the lookout for great players and it seems that Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq, would be very close to signing a former Anfield star who also won it all with the club by being one of the key pieces in winning titles.

Who are we talking about?

We are talking about Georginio Wijnaldum, who currently belongs to PSG. However, Fabrizio Romano has said that he is no longer in the plans of the Parisian club and that Al-Ettifaq has already made an approach for the player, to which PSG would have given the green light. Now it only depends on whether the player wants to emigrate to the Arab league and reunite with his former teammate Jordan Henderson.
