The 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup will kick off on Sunday 20 November with the opening match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador at the Al Khor Stadium. For this reason, the Football Observatory CIES and InStat published the ranking of the absences with the greatest impact in this version of the most important tournament of selections and there is a Colombian at the top of the ranking.
Luis Díaz is one of the four leaders of the list with an Impact Score of 100. Tied with the Colombian are Germany's Toni Kroos of Real Madrid, who retired from the national team last year, Austria's Christopher Trimmel of Union Berlin, and Italy's Federico Dimarco of Inter Milan, the latter two absent from the World Cup because their national teams, which will meet this Sunday in a friendly, did not qualify.

Klopp with headache over Nunez, causes Liverpool problems, thinks of new striker
"The Impact Score is calculated from the average match level in which the players participated according to the experience capital method, the number of official playing minutes during the last 365 days and their performance on the field in comparison with teammates and opponents, as well as with respect to players with the same technical profile," the CIES reports on how these scores are calculated.
Diaz, an important player in his first year with Liverpool, is not included in Nestor Lorenzo's squad for the friendly against Paraguay in Fort Lauderdale as he continues to recover from an injury sustained against Arsenal in London on 9 October. The games could mark the return of Luis Diaz, who is making progress in his recovery from the left knee injury he suffered in early October. According to reports in England, the Colombian's intention is to accelerate his return to the field to be available for the restart of the season.
Jürgen Klopp hopes to have the winger available to face Manchester City in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup, a few days after the World Cup final and before Boxing Day, when the Premier League resumes on 26 December against Aston Villa. Since his injury against Arsenal, the striker has missed 10 games between the Premier League, Carabao Cup and Champions League, but Liverpool coped well with his absence and responded in all three competitions. Seven wins, one draw and just two defeats for Klopp's side without the Colombian.
