A member of Liverpool's first-team squad from 1999 to 2006, former player Dietmar Hamann has recently cast doubt on Jürgen Klopp's ability to revive a team that has made a disappointing start to the season (10th in the Premier League). He says he feels he is the right person to do it, but I see little things. There's something we haven't seen at Liverpool for five years. Maybe those little signs that people are having problems in the team or with the manager.'
The dynamics at Liverpool are no different to anywhere else and, if the results don't come, the manager is going to be under pressure. As a big team, you are always in transition, but they have been at the top of their game for the last three or four years. What they have achieved last year is unparalleled. I don't think it will happen again. They were seven days away from winning all four trophies and I think psychologically it weighs on them," he explained.
Liverpool player who apologised to fans for team's dismal performance
He is a Liverpool idol, but is now under investigation for a disgraceful act
Speaking to talkSPORT, the German hinted that the Anfield Road outfit's run of poor results could be the beginning of the end of the relationship between the manager and the English club. Liverpool look tired, that they are not up to the task. I'm not sure where the spark will come from, because they've won games before. They beat Rangers, but they are far superior. But is it the end of an era? I wouldn't write them off, not at all, but my imagination doesn't lead me to see where that spark will show up in the next few weeks,' he said.
Arsenal managed to take all three points against Liverpool. Jürgen Klopp, the Reds' manager, came out after the game to a press conference visibly affected by the outcome of the match. He spoke about their position in the table: We don't have to look at the standings yet. I know where we are without looking at it, we are not fools, this is not the problem. It's the points and we have to sort it out'.
Klopp said at the end of the clash: 'Now that the game is over, we cannot accept this situation. We did a lot of things well, we scored nice goals against the most in-form team in the Premiership and we played well, but we lost 3-2. We need three points and this is what we have to solve. How? By working, talking, thinking, and then talking to the boys and then training them and helping them, and coming back again,' he added of the possible remedy to Liverpool's tenth-placed situation.
