A verbal altercation between Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Arsenal defender Gabriel took place during the Gunners' 3-2 Premier League win on Sunday. An investigation has been launched. A spokesman for the English FA said the body was investigating an altercation between Liverpool's Jordan Henderson and Arsenal's Gabriel Magalhaes during their respective teams' summit match on Sunday.
The incident took place after the referee whistled a penalty in favour of the Londoners when the score was 2-2 (Arsenal won 3-2). The two players are first seen shoving shoulder to shoulder, before the Liverpool captain exchanges words with his opponent. What did he say? The FA did not disclose, saying only that it was working with officials from both clubs to analyse the incident.

Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli gave the Gunners the lead after 57 seconds and set up Bukayo Saka for the second goal after 45+5, after Uruguay's Darwin Nunez had equalised, assisted by Colombia's Luis Diaz in the 34th minute. Roberto Firmino equalised again in the 53rd minute but Saka, from the penalty spot, scored the winner in the 76th minute.
It is understood the FA is reviewing the referees report and has already started gathering information from Gabriel and Jordan Henderson, following their confrontation at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The Citizens are Liverpool's next Premier League opponents in a week's time, with the Reds in desperate need of a win to put them back in contention for the top four after a poor start to the season.
