The Premier League is almost halfway through the season and things are not looking good for a Liverpool side that came into last season fighting neck and neck with Manchester City, who now have a 13-point gap between them. Despite this, there are pundits who believe the Red's will bounce back in the Championship by overcoming rivals such as Chelsea, a club that has grown in sporting terms over the last few years on the back of big money.

Shay Given, a former professional goalkeeper at clubs such as Newcastle and Aston Villa, is now goalkeeping coach at Derby Country, and speaking about the Reds' latest clash with the Rams, where we qualified for the last 16 of the EFL Cup, Given highlighted several points in favour of Jürgen Klopp's management. "Klopp is a fantastic manager and has been an excellent character in the Premier League. He hasn't been frightened to spend a few quid himself," he condensed.

The Red's now not only fight with the members of the 'Big Four', now one more guest has joined the fight for the championship, it is Newcastle, the team that occupied the same formula as the 'Blue's' and with money, they have sneaked into the top places of the EPL. "Clubs are looking over their shoulder and will be thinking that Newcastle's development is happening a little bit quicker than they thought it would," said 'Shay'.

Liverpool must concentrate on getting maximum points as there are other clubs thinking about their 'own league', which in Given's words is a reality. "Man United, Tottenham and Chelsea will be thinking about their own Champions League qualification, so credit to Eddie Howe for ruffling a few feathers. Hopefully they can continue that for the remainder of the season," closed the 46-year-old former player.

Shay Given believes Liverpool will come from behind

The Pool will host Southampton at Anfield on Matchday 16 of the EPL, looking for one more win and to close the break before the World Cup in Qatar with a better position than the one they have today; 8th place with 19 points. After the final whistle, Klopp's players will break ranks, some will go to the World Cup, others will take a few days off and the rest will collaborate with some media during the tournament, like Mo Salah and his participation with beIN Sports.
