Former Arsenal player backs Liverpool star Mohamed Salah

Todd Boehly is not having an easy start to his arrival in English football. The American's ownership of Chelsea, replacing Roman Abramovich's, is surprising both locals and strangers with its decisions and statements and has prompted former Arsenal star Thierry Henry to come to the defence of Egypt's Mohamed Salah.

From self-proclaimed sporting director to sacking Thomas Tuchel for no apparent reason to his latest public intervention in which he proposed applying American sporting formulas to English football such as the creation of an All Star between players from teams from the north and south of England. Rather than as ideas, he presented them as "lessons" that the Premiership could learn from American sport.

This idea was dismissed by several of the former players now dedicated to the media, but one of those who charged hardest against Boehly was Thierry Henry, former Arsenal and Barcelona among others. The latter wanted to point out Boehly's lack of knowledge of English football and brought up a phrase from the same talk in which he proposed the All Star. The American wrongly targeted Salah and De Bruyne as 'products' of Chelsea's academy when both were signed from Basel and Genk. "Our academy is one of the best in the world with Salah, De Bruyne, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Mount, Chalobah...," he claimed.

Henry was quick to attack the concept of a lesson and point out his mistake. "He said a lesson? A lesson? What is he supposed to mean? What does he want to teach us? Are you a teacher or something? The comment about Salah and De Bruyne? Learn your own lessons first and then come and teach us something," he sentenced harshly.

Salah is not from the Chelsea Academy

Although neither Salah nor De Bruyne went on to exploit their talents at Chelsea, both were signed with the intention of joining the first team, which they did. Both were loaned out and ended up on loan to Wolfsburg and Fiorentina. Eventually, Liverpool and City rescued their talents for the Premiership, where both succeeded and continue to win titles. Not with Chelsea, and certainly not coming out of their academy.
