When talking about Liverpool there is immediately a player that comes to mind and that is Steven Gerrard, as the eternal captain is considered globally as the greatest figure and legend in the history of our club. However, in the team's most recent era Jordan Henderson has forged his own legend, and could now enter the conversation as to whether he has surpassed his legendary mentor.
Jordan Henderson arrived at Anfield in 2011 as a youngster of just 21 years of age and was taken under the wing of Steven Gerrard, who by then was already the club's biggest legend. Stevie G taught Hendo all about being a leader, who slowly began to grow as a player and as a captain.
After Gerrard's departure from his beloved team in 2015, Jordan Henderson took on the role of captain and at that time very few could have imagined all that Henderson would achieve wearing the captain's armband of England's biggest and most important team. The rest is history, Jordan Henderson has been the ultimate leader of a star-studded team that managed to win every title possible during one of the most glorious periods in Liverpool's history and also captained what for many is the best team Liverpool has ever had.
Now, with his imminent departure to Saudi Arabian football, in which he will also leave a financial benefit to the club, Jordan Henderson could enter the conversation as to whether he has finally reached and surpassed the legend of his master, as there is an argument that could be definitive in determining whether Henderson will ultimately be a greater Reds legend.
Although Steven Gerrard has been Liverpool's emblem for many years and for many fans he is the club's ultimate legend, there was one task that remained for the legendary No. 8. Gerrard was never able to win the Premier League. For his part, Henderson was the captain of the team that broke a 30-year drought without winning the Premier League, something that could give him an argument in favor of his legendary stint at Anfield.
