Since the end of the 2022-2023 season, Jürgen Klopp has had only one goal in mind: to strengthen the squad in order to return to the Champions League as soon as possible. After the failure of the previous season, the German tactician decided that the team needed an internal restructuring, which is why our club was shaping up to be one of the most active teams in the transfer market.

Almost immediately after the end of the season, Klopp established that the team's top priority would be to sign young midfielders and selected Alexis Mac Allister to be the first reinforcement this summer. The arrival of the Argentine midfielder excited a large sector of the fans, as he is a player who had a great season in which, among other things, he was crowned world champion with Argentina in Qatar 2022.

However, since Mac Allister's signing was made official, Liverpool has struggled to sign its second reinforcement, despite the fact that the list of candidates and the rumors have not ceased. It seems that the clubs with which Liverpool has entered into negotiations have not been very accessible and have asked very high prices for their players, so Liverpool has not been able to close any deal.

But, apparently, that could change very soon as according to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo, Liverpool could "easily activate" the termination clause of Gonçalo Inácio, Sporting Lisbon's central defender who has been on Klopp's radar for several weeks now to reinforce the team's defense.

How much would Liverpool spend to sign Inácio?

Currently, Gonçalo Inácio is worth €30 million, according to the Transfermarkt portal. However, according to several reports, the 21-year-old Portuguese defender would have a termination clause of 45 million euros, an amount they would be willing to pay, as Liverpool's board considers that he can be one of the best defenders in the world in the coming years.
