Liverpool continues its search for reinforcements for next season, and it has been reported that one of the priorities for Jürgen Klopp would be to sign a central defender who could accompany Virgil van Dijk to strengthen the team's defensive line and be able to return to the Champions League as soon as possible.
In that sense, several names have been mentioned as possible reinforcements for Liverpool in the defensive area, but everything seems to indicate that Jürgen Klopp already has his favorite. We are talking about Levi Colwill, a 20-year-old central defender who belongs to Chelsea and is valued at 30 million euros according to the Transfermarkt portal.
Several media have reported that the Liverpool board has already made two approaches to his counterpart of the Blues to ask about a possible price to sign Levi Colwill this summer, however on both occasions the answer would have been the same: Levi Colwill is not for sale. Chelsea would have no intention of letting the great promise of English football leave, quite the contrary, as it has even been said that they offered him a contract extension.
But Levi Colwill has surprised the Blues board, as he has not wanted to sign the contract extension because the club can not guarantee him the playing time he wants, something that Liverpool could do, because Klopp would see him as one of the key players in the new project of the Reds, who would also have a great emotional advantage when it comes to Levi Colwill.
Levi Colwill recently admitted that his idol growing up was Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. The Chelsea defender admitted that he idolized Gerrard and always wanted to be like him. “Growing up it was always Steven Gerrard (his idol), a leader. I was just amazed and used to have pictures of him in my bedroom. I would always try to copy him and even dress up like him”, he said.
