Luis Diaz has been the most talked-about player in the world in recent weeks

In the last few weeks, Luis Diaz has been the most talked about Colombian player in the world. The Colombian had quite an eventful November, against all odds, he managed to overcome one of his worst moments in his personal life and his resilience allowed him to write a new chapter in the history of Colombian football. After his legendary match against Brazil, in which he scored twice to give Colombia the win in the World Cup qualifiers, Diaz rejoined the Liverpool squad, but his great performances left more than a few people talking.

With the approach of the opening of the winter transfer window in Europe, rumours and comments of possible links to the Colombian began to appear, to the point where the titans of Spanish football came into the picture, with Real Madrid and Barcelona apparently showing interest in Lucho. However, this "courtship" of the Iberian clubs would have been nipped in the bud by the Reds, who made their position clear on a possible sale of the Colombian winger. This was reported by Turkish international transfer specialist Ekrem Konur, who said that Liverpool would not let Diaz go in the winter window:

"Real Madrid and Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Luis Diaz's situation, but Liverpool will reject offers for the Colombian winger in January". So both Catalans and Merengues will have to wait in line until the summer transfer window, where they could see an opportunity depending on how Luis is performing by then. One of the main reasons why the British side are not letting the Cafetero go at the end of the year is because he is central to the squad's main objectives for the season, which include the club's return to the Champions League, the Europa League championship and winning the domestic league titles.

Within manager Jürgen Klopp's game plan, Diaz appears to be one of the men in the starting eleven consistently and without yet having a player who can fill in for him in his position, the Anfield management will not let the Colombian go. Furthermore, in six months' time, depending on the performance of the Barrancas native, the value of his contract could increase considerably, allowing the English side to ask the Spaniards for more money if they want to take him. Diaz is currently valued at 75 million euros according to the specialist market portal Transfermarkt, and by the end of the year he could be worth as much as 75 million.
