Jürgen Klopp and the Liverpool board were set to have a very active summer in terms of transfers and signings, as they were among the first teams to officialize the arrival of a reinforcement when they announced the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. However, since then they have not been able to make their second signing.
Liverpool have been linked with several players in recent weeks, as it has been reported that the Reds' board and Jürgen Klopp himself have established as a priority the arrival of young midfielders, and in that sense they have a long list of targets that could arrive at Anfield this summer, but for some reason we have not yet been able to know who will be the second reinforcement of the team.
A couple of weeks ago, several reports in the press claimed that Klopp would have two big priorities: Manu Koné and Képhren Thuram. Both French-born midfielders would be Klopp's main target, as he would consider that they could be two future stars of the team and could provide immediate results. However, both signings seem to have stalled, as on the one hand it was reported that Nice, the team where Thuram plays, would intend to retain him for at least one more season.
On the other hand, the arrival of Manu Koné also seems to be at risk, as the Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder has suffered an injury that could jeopardize his arrival at Anfield this summer. This is terrible news for our Liverpool, as it is believed that the board were already in negotiations and now it could all fall through.
Manu Koné had to leave the France U21 match just after 19 minutes with an apparent knee injury. Although there is no official report yet, the outlook is not very encouraging as the player had to leave the stadium on crutches.
