Despite the fact that all available players have already reported to Liverpool to begin preparations for next season, Jürgen Klopp and the Anfield board are still looking for reinforcements to shore up the team, especially in light of the latest rumors that could lead to a couple of departures from the squad.
In recent days, several players who are already training at the team's facilities have been strongly linked with a possible departure from Liverpool, especially Jordan Henderson, who has reportedly already accepted Al-Ettifaq's millionaire offer to emigrate to the exotic Saudi Arabian league. And although his departure was not planned, it could mean an increase in Liverpool's budget to sign other players.
While it has been said that Jürgen Klopp would prioritize the arrival of at least one more midfielder, it is also true that the Reds urgently need to sign a new central defender, as Liverpool's defense was the worst in the Premier League's top five last season.
In that sense, the main candidate to reinforce that area of the field would be Chelsea's Levi Colwill, who would be one of Klopp's great desires. However, the Blues have made it clear that they have no intention of selling him as they consider him an important part of their team and that is why Klopp will have to think about other alternatives, especially since it has just been confirmed that one of the possible heirs of Virgil van Dijk has left the club.
It has been confirmed and it is official, Liverpool's 21-year-old central defender Sepp van den Berg, once considered the heir to Virgil van Dijk, has left the club on loan. He will play next season with Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga, a team he also played for last season, where he will try to raise his level in order to convince Jürgen Klopp to stay with the Reds' first team next season.
