The Brazilian arrived as the last signing before the Deadline

Liverpool's summer signing from Juventus Arthur Melo is undergoing a rigorous training programme in a bid to fit into Jurgen Klopp's first team plans. Arthur has asked to play for the club's U21s and is doing double sessions as he tries to get up to speed with his new teammates following a disrupted pre-season.

Arthur Melo's Liverpool story has only just begun. A surprise arrival on the final day of the summer transfer window due to the injury plague plaguing Jürgen Klopp's midfield, the Brazilian midfielder is now looking to earn a place in the XI. But Arthur has not had it easy. The lack of training with the rest of his Liverpool team-mates, who also started training a month before his arrival on 1 September, has proved to be a handicap for the player, on loan for a season from Juventus and with an option for the Reds to buy for 35 million euros.

That is precisely why Arthur has had to take advantage of the early stages of the season to get up to speed, at the cost of not playing (he only played 13 minutes in the Champions League defeat to Napoli). A circumstance that fuelled rumours of an early exit from England despite being far from the truth.

As AS AS has learned, after the international break, Arthur is expected to be given a more prominent role. Indeed, at the AXA Training Centre, Klopp was seen personally congratulating Arthur on his work to make up for lost time during pre-season. "He's doing well, he's really giving his all in training," the German coach also admitted to the press a few days ago.

Over the last two weeks, Arthur has done his best to get up to the same physical level as the rest of his team-mates, and he will continue to do so during the international break, in which he has not been called up by Brazil. Although he could rest from the clouds of Liverpool for a few days, the player from Goiâna has preferred to stay in the city to finish his training.
