Arthur Melo's desperation to stay at Liverpool

The Brazilian midfielder has been in a very poor form

By Charles Cornwall

Arthur Melo joined Liverpool on loan from Juventus this summer, but his performances were a huge disappointment to Reds manager Jürgen Klopp, who considered returning the midfielder to the Serie A club. Melo had played just 14 minutes since joining the English club in the Champions League game against Napoli, enough time to determine that the Brazilian had arrived off the pace and in poor physical shape.

But in the face of Klopp's disdain, the Brazilian has taken matters into his own hands and took advantage of the FIFA international break to train with Liverpool's Under-23 team and regain the fitness that led him to sign for Barcelona, a situation that has pleased the German coach. "Now he just needs football and training. He is doing well, he is really giving his all in training, we also have to be careful with him and then we will see if we can use him," Klopp said.

Melo's commitment to earning his manager's trust has not stopped at training with the youth teams and he has also hired a personal team to get back to fitness and have a radical change in his habits that will be reflected in his lifestyle with the firm intention of increasing his playing time for Liverpool.
According to The Times, the 26-year-old Brazilian has hired fitness trainer Daniel Esteban Labarca Encina, nutritionist Joana Pessao Dell'Oro and physiotherapist Adrian Martinez Castro to prepare the player for the demands he will face in order to earn a place in the starting line-up. And to be able to satisfy the needs of the German coach of the Reds.

Arthur Melo's stance and commitment has pleased Liverpool and his willingness has been reflected in the 90 minutes of action in the weekend's game against Leicester, as well as an hour of action in the defeat to Rochdale in the Papa John's Trophy. Although the intention of his arrival was to become a star player from the start.
