After Liverpool's disappointing start to the season in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, attention has been focused entirely on the next decisions and strategies that manager Jurgen Klopp has in mind for the not too distant future, with the midfield becoming one of the first tasks to resolve after the sea of injuries and absentees that have done little to help the German manager's approach, with reinforcements being the quickest and most effective solution that could be found for January.
Although the obstacles that were presented in six Premier League games were enough to make people think and talk about new reinforcements in midfield, the real trigger for this situation was hundreds of miles away from home, to be more specific, in Italy playing against Napoli, a match that culminated with that humiliating 4-1 drubbing where only Luis Diaz was saved from the bad notes made by the press in England.
What about Liverpool v Chelsea at Stamford Bridge?
"Liverpool will fight for the title', ex-star's hopeful words
The options in midfield have been extremely limited for a manager who has been characterised in previous years by an incredible midfield that did its job in attack and defence to perfection, with the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson all out of contention and off the pace in this series of improvisations.
With the midfield clearly in need of an early recovery and adaptation to Liverpool's ongoing competitions, rumours have suggested that the Reds are now also interested in a player from the Eredivisie League, more specifically Ibrahim Sangaré who plays for PSV Eindhoven.
The Ivorian midfielder was also recently linked with other Premier League sides, with Manchester United topping the list followed by West Ham, of course, in addition to interest from Serie A side AC Milan. PSV will have to be smart and try to keep the 24-year-old Ivorian at his best so that one of these teams will have to pay the clause in his contract to take him, as he only recently renewed his contract with this team.
