The English Premier League returns to action this weekend with Matchday 18, where German manager Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool will host Arsenal at Anfield Road with the aim of staying top of the table. Arsenal could climb to the top if they beat the Reds, who are just one point behind on 38 points, however, in the event of a draw between the two, combined with a win for Aston Villa tomorrow vs Sheffield United, the Villans would be the new Premier League leaders.

Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool have 19 league titles to their name, but only one has been won under the current Premier League format, which they won in the 2019-2020 season; a year earlier they had won the UEFA Champions League against Tottenham Spurs under Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp criticised the atmosphere at Anfield in the 5-1 win over West Ham United and the goalless draw with Manchester United and urged fans who do not want to cheer to leave their tickets for others. "I have to say, in the first half where the boys played exceptionally well, I wasn't very happy with the atmosphere in the stand," Klopp said after Liverpool qualified for the League Cup semi-finals. "I don't know, I don't know what people want. We dominated West Ham, we missed chances.... If I had been in the stands I wouldn't have been able to sit down, 1,000 per cent. I don't know if the game against Manchester United was so bad that we have to apologise for not crushing them, he said.

Klopp's warning to Arsenal

After the controversy surrounding his words, Klopp issued a warning to Arsenal on Friday ahead of Saturday's game and previewed the atmosphere at Anfield: "Maybe I have to...I can tell our people, I don't order atmospheres, we had 2 home games in a row and 62 [shots]. Imagine if we'd have scored [more]. It's my feeling directly after the game. I turned around and missed a chance and people were flat. We are in a pretty good position, maybe quicker than some expected, I don't know. If we have a chance and we miss it is it (deflating). It's no criticism, I enjoyed 99.7% of each second in this stadium. I love it to bits."
